The Dream of Clumsy Night

A vision of a lumbering night;
I have dreamed of joy
That cast away;
But a waking dream
of life and light
As it left me broken-heart
What is not a dream by day;
things around him
Glows with a ray
I turned my back upon the past;
while all the world
cheered me as a lonely cast;
while the spirit ran the path;
The light passed through storm and night
Thou, I trembled afar distance;
What could it be purer
Then a clumsy  night;
